One Way Ticket.....

Flying in & out of Russia since 1998 one thing always surprised me; the insensitivity of ex-Soviet airlines to the sensitive passenger such as myself.

On one trip I was happily handed a copy of The Moscow Times which contained a fine graphic of how the Air France flight 447 from Rio to Paris nose-dived into the Atlantic.

Another journey started with the calming Titanic tune.  And we all know how that story ended.

But my favourite voyage was the return from Tblisi in 1999.  Business class is so much more pleasant when the minute the fasten seatbelt sign goes off you are joined by the cattle class passengers for a drink.  Georgian hospitality at its finest.  But it was the choice of music which amused me most; the 1978 Soul classic "One Way Ticket"

And as I have left Russia for the final time I feel that this is the most appropriate fable to end this blog.
